All of Matty’s hard work laying sod in our little backyard a few months ago turned out to be in vain. The sod didn’t quite take root and we ended up with dead grass. Today Matty decided to try a new approach–he ripped up the sod and spread out rubber mulch. The yard looks so much better and the mulch will be a nice cushiony place for Ruby if she happens to take a tumble.

This afternoon we all went to the Irish Festival in Old Town, where I volunteered at the Republican booth. Of course Ruby was a huge hit in her cute clover dress.
