Ruby lost one of her earring backs in Virginia Beach last week so we decided to get her some new earrings today . It was difficult getting a picture of her with her pearls; you can barely see them in this picture, where she is telling me she wants to come with us to Oktoberfest (Ruby stayed with our sitter, Brenda, and Matty, Joe, and I had a great time).
Rolling and Sitting
27 SepOur little Joebear hit a big milestone today. I put him down for tummy time and then turned away for a minute. When I turned back around Joe was on his back! Despite many attempts to get him to repeat this feat over the course of the day, Ruby and I failed. He is also very close to rolling over back- to-front.
Joe has been sitting so well in his red seat I decided to see how he would fare sitting all by himself. He actually did pretty well, if only for a minute or two.
Order in the Chaos
26 SepMy small group met today at our house. We studied Genesis 1, when God created order from chaos. As we discussed how to apply the passage to our daily lives Ruby disappeared upstairs. She was quiet and I was enjoying myself so I just let her be.
Big mistake.
Apparently she had decided to teach me my own lesson. When I finally ventured upstairs this is what I found:
(that is my makeup in the sink)
What you can’t see is that the little trash can is full of powder and water and there is POOP IN THE BATHTUB! When I asked Ruby what she had done she said “I just make this big mess!” Thank God my wonderful friends were here to help; I was able to laugh a little instead of collapsing in a puddle of frustrated tears.
The children gave me a little gift later on when they both napped for about 30 minutes. Instead of being productive I watched “More Business of Being Born” on Netflix–heavenly.
Flashback: Elizabeth & Danny
25 SepI deleted most of the pictures from my phone today to make room for the newest iPhone software upgrade (and more pictures !) and stumbled across a few pictures I neglected to post when I did my big catch-up day in August. We were super excited to hang out with my best friend since childhood, Elizabeth, and her wonderful husband Danny a few months ago. Of course both kids loved them.
Cousins!
21 SepWe are thrilled to add another baby to our family! My sister Rachel and her husband Matt just had their first child, Noah Matthew. He is absolutely precious and we can’t wait to meet him in November. As Ruby says: “aw I dwove (love) that baby!”
My Matty is studying for his Command Qualification Exam this weekend so the kids and I came down to Norfolk to give him peace and quiet, which is a rare commodity around our house these days. Ruby and Joe have been having so much fun with their other cousins and PopPop; Mama is in Australia with Baby Noah and we all miss her.
Megan especially loves taking care of Joe and he just adores her:
We all went to a movie at the zoo last night, which was fun and chilly.
Today we walked to a nice, shady park on a little lake.
Whole Foods
18 SepI haven’t posted the past several days because the storage on my phone was completely full (I have almost 3,000 pictures) and thus I have been unable to take any photos. Rather than face the daunting task of going through and deleting pictures, I got rid of a few apps to buy myself some time.
I took Ruby and Joe to While Foods today to pick up a few things for dinner and a cake I wanted to bake for my small group tomorrow. This article has been floating around my Facebook feed and I did find it to be a little true today.
Ruby loved sitting at the bar waiting for my coffee:
Joe smiled and flirted with the lovely cashier:
